The city is known for the Ancient Theater of Taormina, an ancient Greco-Roman theatre, second largest in Sicily after the Greek theater of Syracuse, still in operation today especially in the summer period, a splendid setting for international events, concerts and high-level awards international. It is the most important and best preserved ancient monument, built in a wonderful panoramic point overlooking the gulf of Schisò and the imposing Etna, surrounded by the sea and nature. In the center of the square you can admire the Baroque style fountain of the Quattro Fontane where the symbol of the city of Taormina dominates: the Centauress on two legs surrounded by a crown.
